Based on the new guidance from church officials, the 2020 Young Men Regional Summer Camp has been cancelled. While camp is cancelled for 2020, we remain committed to holding a regional young men's camp and will soon begin the planning process for 2021 camp. Thank you for your support this past year and we hope that you will all join us again next year.
We thank all those who put forth mental and physical effort in preparing for this year's camp. We both began and finished our preparations with great uncertainty about the survival of camp. However, there was never any doubt that if camp had gone forward, we had the right people to create a special experience for the young men. With even more time to prepare for next year, we can offer the spectacular spiritual, physical, intellectual, and social experience that our young men deserve.
We are excited to announce the first annual Young Men Regional Summer Camp, to be held June 29 to July 4, 2020, at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation. This is a continuation of the Hudson-Delaware LDS Regional Scout Encampment, which served LDS Scout Troops for 45 years. For the most part, the camp will be very similar to past LDS Scout camps. One of the most significant changes will be that young men will have the opportunity to set their own meaningful goals, rather than be required to fulfill a list of requirements. These changes are being made to better serve our youth, in accordance with the new program announced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2019.
When the Church announced that it was releasing a new program and would no longer be chartering troops with the Boy Scouts of America, it was assumed that 2019 would be the final year for the LDS Scout Camp. However, much of the camp leadership recognized the benefits the camp provided to the young men in their stakes and wards, and expressed a desire to continue the camp in a new format.
The new program offerings are intended to allow young men to set and accomplish their own meangingful goals, learn important skills, serve, and have fun. Camp programs are divided into four areas: physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual. The camp builds on years of experience offering a quality Scout camp to young men.
Registration will begin March 1, 2020.
